WindstoneAt A Glance
This single-family home is located high atop a ridge in Brentwood, Tennessee, and is an excellent example of the eclectic French Country style. Designed for a particularly hands-on and detail-oriented owner, this house is truly a reflection of his personality, his aesthetic and his thoughtful life-philosophy. As the first residence in middle Tennessee to be certified as LEED Green, the home features geothermal HVAC, rain- and grey-water collection, high R-value wall and ceiling assemblies, and high U-value windows. The orientation of the structure on its building site was carefully established to maximize the home’s stunning views - and to allow the path of the sun to move through the home throughout the day for passive heating – or “daylighting” - while taking advantage of the passive cooling properties of the inherent breeze at the top of the ridge. And the house features a stone veneer and exposed timber elements. Hence the name, Windstone. And finally, a rear-covered porch invites additional interaction with the surrounding vistas, as do the views from inside the home. The owner of Windstone is one of our firm’s earliest clients, and thus holds a very special place in our hearts.
